A Little About Me

Hi there! My name is Sarah. I am a former preschool teacher turned stay-at-home mom. I have a passion for giving little ones the opportunity to learn through play and discovery. If you follow me on social media, you’ve probably heard me say that! So here’s a little more about how our adventures started.

I grew up in a multicultural and creative home – both of which I’m very grateful for! When it came time to go to college and choose a major, I decided to combine two of my passions: teaching and music. I later graduated with a degree in Music Education… during a time where there was very little demand for music educators…(Let’s be honest, there’s never a demand for music educators). So I did what the rest of my fine arts education peers did – became a substitute teacher. Over the next few years I went from substitute teacher, to kindergarten aide, and ultimately to preschool teacher. It wasn’t what I expected, but I loved it more than I ever thought I would!

The curriculum that I was given for preschool was… well it just wasn’t my style. It was a little outdated, a little… boring! So I spent a lot of time making my own curriculum and lesson plans. One of my coworkers convinced me to publish some of the things I’d put together on TeachersPayTeachers.com. And another passion was born – creating resources for preschool and pre-K.

But… the time came for me to say goodbye. My husband Nick and I had our first sweet little girl, our little Peach. I continued teaching for two long years after having her, and those years were filled with heartache. When we found out were pregnant with our Bug, we decided it was time to make a change. We prayed. Nick job searched. We prayed some more. I almost took a job in a bakery (another passion of mine, but that’s for another time!). Nick interviewed. We waited. And waited.

The day after having our sweet little Bug, Nick accepted a job as a senior pastor, and the first few months of her life were spent searching for a new home and moving. We settled in to our new home (right before the pandemic) and now here we are. Life can get a little messy and disorganized, but we’re good with that. We homeschool, we do life with our church family, and we have fun together!

Maybe you are checking out this website because you know me. Maybe you follow me elsewhere. Maybe you’re a teacher or home educator looking for a fresh idea. I’d love to hear from you! Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions you might have!

That’s all I have for now. See you next time!

Sarah
